As the famous Martin Luther King's poem illustrates...
« I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.”
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today !!
I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plains and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together. »
Since the beginning of times, dreams have always been behind great achievements!
What will it be if our ancestors that were driven out of the Africa and made slaves in other continents did not have the dream to be free one day?
Wouldn't we still be some colon's servants if some of our fathers and mothers did not have the dreams to become independent?
Where will we be if some of our sisters and mothers did not have the dream that one day Women and Men will have equal rights! I would not be certainly here behind my laptop typing this bolg...
All of this to say, Dreams are very center to a Human Being Quest....
It is your dreams, conscious or not that makes you get up every morning and do the extra mile beyond what is expected.
In my early twenties, I was not that much aware of the importance of nuturing your dreams. The revelation happens when back in my home country, I was discussing with my childhood friend left in Africa whith whom I used to dream of the future when we were children.
I had those big dreams and visions for my life. I was so excited to talk about it with him and to explain them the steps I envisioned to take in order to make those dreams come true...And then I realize that He was not talking anymore and was not that much excited.
His dreams were gone! He was not dreaming anymore, He did not have hope anymore and therefore there were no need to fight again the adverstity of life. I was so sad and chocked how only few years of living in different continents have changed ourselves so much!
He told me something interesting " You still have some reasons to dream!"
And guess what? He was true! Have you noticed how some political regimen maintain the people under control by suppressing all their dreams and hope and make them think that there is no other way of doing things than the way they do.
I guess this is the most vicious plague in some African countries. The youth who is to the economy what fuel is to a car is dreamless! They have no more hope, no more dreams or not enough..Why keep fighting? Pointless.... Of course they are not to blame, because the political, economic, social systems have all the necessary factors to inhibite even the tiniest dream or hope.
What would you dream if you was not taught that something is possible?
Why would you dream if you are always told that there is no issue?
What would make you dream if you do not have enough role models or success stories?
Why would you have hope if all around you is
